See, you have asked about 10 light years.
So, if possible, they are looking us in 1997....
Stone age is about million years ago. Hence, aliens 1 million light years away will be looking us in stone age but it is quite impossible to find life on a planet which is 1 million light years away becuase, we are not able to see the life on a planet found at 40 light years away.
Well, the nearby planet in other solar system which can have life is 40 light years away..
Hence, if they are watching us,
they are watching us in 1967.....
Hence, for them, humans with age around 40 aren't born till now..

Same thing is with other galaxies.
Andromeda is the most nearby galaxy...
The light emitted by andromeda when human was in stone age is reaching to earth now...!

Answer to question::::
Alien Are Seeing us in 1997 because they are 10 light years away.

10 light years is quite simply the distance that light (the universal speed limit according to general relativity) would travel in 10 years of time. Travelling at that speed, the aliens would be: 670,616,629.2 miles per hour x24 hrs/day x 365 days/yr x 10yrs = 58,746,016,717,920 miles. For comparison purposes that would be 631,677 trips from Earth to the Sun (93 million miles-one way). Even at those unfathomable distances the aliens would see only the light reaching them which happened to reflect off of earth and has travelled at the speed of light for 10 years to reach there telescope, meaning, as others have said, that they would see earth circa 1997. Apart from some really bad music, we would be marginally past using stone implements to hunt food for survival. Hope this helps you.

No. The aliens would see us as we were 10 years ago.
As to would they see us as being in the stone age? I don't think so. They would see us as a developing species that is fully well capable of destroying ourselves. Hardly stone age stuff.

Hi. No. They would think we were in the last part of the 20th century. (10 years ago or 1997.)
