I went in for a check up. My Doctor decided to give me an ultrasound. I am 10 weeks pregnant. And All we seen was the sac. The Ultrasound said I was 6 weeks. He asked if I was right on my LMP. I said Yes, But the 2 months before that was like 5 days earlier from the last! Well he said that would not put me back to 6 weeks. I did not have a full bladder at all? Could that give me a wrong due date if my bladder was not full?

Okay Well Ill explain a little more.
I got an ultrasound. "I'm 10 weeks". My ultrasound said I was 6 weeks. We seen a little spot of the baby. My bladder was empty. He just felt like giving me an ultrasound because I was just curious when they give them. Well He set me up to get viabilitly and date ultrasound done. To get a better look. That ultrasound was for 20 weeks and less. Was it the ultrasound its self or Was it because my bladder was empty? I heard you have to have a full bladder at 10 weeks for an ultrasound. He said nothing about miscarriage.

No, full bladder or not, the developement of a 6 week old baby and a 10 week old baby are different. I would go with the ultrasound, and what your dr. says.

I think you must be off on your dates or you've had a miscarriage that hasn't spontaneously terminated (sorry there is no nice way to say that). At 6 weeks they should maybe be able to see a heartbeat? If they did and they say 6 weeks you are 6 weeks pregnant, not 10. There is a big difference between a 6 week embryo and a 10week fetus so they can't mess that up even without a full bladder. At 6 weeks an embryo is only 1/4-1/2 an inch long, at 10 weeks its closer to 2.5inches long so thats hard to mess up.

I would be waiting another 1-2 weeks, then having another scan as this will definately tell you what is going on. If the baby has grown and a strong heartbeat is detected you know all is well, if not then at least you know what is going on.

Make sure to drink at least 500ml of water an hour before hand and relax in the meantime.

Good luck

A ultrasound is definetly differant at 6 wks than it is at 10 wks, BIg differance! I would go with what your doctor thinks.. Your bladder being full should have nothing to do with it honestly because your little one is still so small right now. I would wait until your next ultrasound and see what that says.

Here's mine at 8 weeks, its still so TINY!

EDIT: If i might add why didnt he do it vaginally? The picture of mine above was done like that and they are WAY more accurate than one on the belly at this stage in time. I would mention it to him next time.

If you only saw a sac, there's no way you're 10 weeks, unless you had a "missed" miscarriage. Your doctor should have told you if that's what he suspected. It's possible you're only 6 weeks as well. Wait it out, time will tell. Good luck!
