I've heard about a wifi card that you can purchase to get signals from the internet without having to pay. Is this true and if so how does it work and where can I buy it?

Hi. Any wireless card will pick up signals within its range. Nothing special. Some are WEP or WPA secured. You can not access these (well you can but it would not be ethical).

Additional Info. In some internet heavy countries, (think south Korea) there can be Wi-Fi hotspots, which does give you free access to the internet. Contact your local council to see if there are any hotspots near you.

A thing to be weary of is the security of these open hotspots is very bad, so don't do any internet banking, or anything that is important to you. But yes, it is POSSIBLE to be able to access the internet with wifi, for free.

If you do really want wireless internet access, for everywhere, maybe contact your mobile phone provider and ask them about a 3G network plan.

Hope I helped!
