Here is a situation,,

A:Do you have no boyfriend?

B:No,

In this case, B person meant no,i don't have a bf?

What if B person say Yes, is it ambiguous?

No matter what answer B gives it would be ambiguous because it is not a grammatically correct sentence. Taking the literally meaning of the question as it is written, "yes" would be the answer if B did not have a boyfriend.

Any answer would be ambiguous, because it's a badly worded question. It sounds like it was asked by a non-native English speaker. An observant grammatical stickler might say "yes" to mean she has no boyfriend. Most people, including most non-English-speakers, would say "no" to mean they have no boyfriend. -yk

if answer is yes, then the person does NOT have one.
if no, then the person DOES have one.
it's kinda like a double negative.
