I mean seriously. It is now twelve unranked teams that have beat opponents in the top 5 this season. That is unbelievable! Never has the rankings been as crazy and messed up as they have been this year! This year proves that D-I FBS should and needs to have playoffs. All the other divisions in football has it. So why not the best division in collegiate football?

Yeah just finished watching the Hawaii-Boise State game too Chris W (Damn Hawaiian time). I heard that to. But, hey both teams try schedule good opponents but they keep opted out thus forcing the Warriors and the Broncos to play a weaker schedule.

Adam K, somebody on another similar question of mine said this: Any playoff format is going to exclude some teams, who won't be happy.

It is time for a playoff. An 8 team playoff would work fine. You would need 7 bowls for this. You could use the five they have now and add two. The first round would be played on the weekend of December 15 (if this year, that would give everyone one week off). The next round would be played on December 22, with the championship played Jan 5, 6, or 7, which would give one week off. Could easily be done and the bowls could rotate for what game they got. So, every 7 years they would get a national championship game and every 2 out of 7 they get a semifinal game.

The BCS rankings as now with, maybe, a few modification would work fine. There is a big difference between selecting the number 2 team over the number 3 team then selected the number 8 team over the number 9.

I would also like some sort of rule if a team goes undefeated to get an automatic selection (possibly but maybe not).

Lets add to the fact that there are two teams that are 2nd in their divisions that are in the Top 10. How many teams in the top 10 are playing for conference champsionship this weekend? What if Mizzou and West Virginia lose this weekend? Does Georgia or Kansas enter the picture? I think the problem extends beyond the BCS. Twelve team conferences cause a lot of these problems, just see 2002.

There should be playoff with 6 major conference champs and two at large bids. I would rather not see the 2nd place team from a division of the SEC, Big 12 or ACC. Top 4 teams should get home field too.

I would like to see a playoff, but even so, unless you scrap some time off of the season (the 12th game) or move them up, it would be difficult to make happen.

And even then, how would the teams be chosen? What kind of format would be in place to make sure that ALL conference champions had an equal chance of playing in the tourney. How many at-large bids would be up? And don't get me started on those money-mongering bowls. Do you think they would easily just give up the millions that they make yearly just to satisfy the fans?

I'm not a playoff hater, I'm just pointing out that there would be some serious hurdles in the way of a true playoff system in major college ball.

I agree, however, I must admit I enjoy not seeing the usual suspects up there fighting for the title. It is nice to have some fresh blood. But I just got done watching the Hawaii-Boise State game (pretty good, I just wish BSU wouldn't have injured all but 1 of their starting secondary, it might have been a tighter game, but Hawaii played a good game) and I listened to the fact that BSU and Hawaii aren't strong teams because they have "weak schedules". Michigan played Appalachian State and lost. That to me says that Michigan should have been banished from the Top 25 for the entire season. I mean a 1-AA or whatever they are called beat them, at least teams in "weak" conferences are losing to FBS teams.

no. if we had playoffs - say top 8, we would just be arguing about the same thing except it would be who is number 8 instead of 2. somebody is always going to be left out.

yes it's time for a playoff, but people would get tired of that too after the SEC takes home 20 national championships in a row
