my sister have been chatting online with this guy for 2 months and they decided to get married in this 2 weeks time without us knowing. He even asks her to go to Canada alone, get married there and stays there. It troubled us so much as why she had made the decision so sudden. He is Pakistani currently applying Canadian nationality and also applying permit to set up business there and it is all in process so he told her. He couldnt fetch my sister here like most gentlemen do plus to meet my family first just because of financial problems. How does he going marry my sister with everything still uncertain and in a very suspicious way. I thought of syndicate of people smugling women and i fear my sister is one of the statistics. What do you think guys.. tq

Your sister is an idiot if she goes. She could find herself stuck in a foreign country (maybe not even Canada and most likely his home country) forced to marry and basically 'obey' his every whim literally being held against her will. Worse, she could be getting pulled into a scam to force her into prostitution or even killed! If it's the real thing he would not only come here to 'fetch' her but he would be willing to hang around, get to know the family, and prove that he is who he says he is, will have his nationality papers in hand, and have his business set up first!
Ugh, my sister met a guy off the net and met him in real life after only 2 weeks. I wanted to strangle her. Needless to say I was the one left comforting her and picking up the pieces with her after he took her for a ride. I went as far as to gather all of the info on him that I could and made sure I had photos just in case she went missing or harmed her. It was painful to sit back and let her make her own mistake and the worry was unspeakable. She wouldn't admit she was going to meet him but I knew in my heart she would. She wouldn't listen to anyone.
Unfortunately if she is an adult there is little you can do to try to stop her other then try to talk some sense into her. Your family should insist to accompany her. I suggest a male also go!
I still say it sounds fishy!
I wish you the best of luck and hope it's on the up and up.

Beg your sister NOT to do it. Have the family talk to her.

Contact Dr. Phil .. and see if he has the tape of his show last week .. where a girl was being held captive by her boyfriend who she went to his country .. and how he did cruel things to her.

Get the movie .. "Without My Daughter". It's a movie about a doctor in the USA who was from another country - but married a woman in the USA . .. and they had a daughter. As a family - they went to his country to visit .. and he held them all there .. with his family .. to never let her come back home again. It's awful. Show this to your sister.

If this guy really loves your sister .. he could wait. True love waits .. and true love endures. Tell your sister this. This move does not have to happen now. She could disappear without a trace. Tell her to have the man come here.

Also - contact officials that could give you information on how to check up on this guy. There are ways. Contact the Attorney General of your State .. and ask for such information.

Your sister could be in such danger. You could even contact the FBI for help & information.

The young lady who was on Dr. Phil's show , was intercepted at one point, by the FBI. Dr. Phil helped this girl. I did not get to see the whole show .. but what I did see was scarey. In fact, Dr. Phil's office could probably tell you how to check up on this guy. Try everything .. to find out .. and to stop your sister.

You should pull her aside and talk to her about this. There are so many perverts and smugglers out there. In other countries there is not as good protection against this. Online dating is bad idea if you have NEVER met the guy before. If she decides to go, make sure to keep in touch. If he is some-kind of pervert you will be in contact with her. You could even offer to go with her. Not live there with her but just meet him. I would insist that he come to your sister. If she has her mind set on going there isn't much you can do.

Have her watch Dr. Phil's Monday show...it may change her mind. It's about a 16 year old girl who met a guy on my space and took off to another country to meet him - then he abuses her.

Reasons not to marry him:

She doesn't know him very well
He wants her to get married in a rush
He most likely wants to marry her for citizenship
The family has not met and approved of him
He wants her to move to another country
She will be isolated from her friends and family
He has financial problems
No one knows his background (if he's a criminal, etc.?)
Maybe religious differences?
Cultural differences

Tell her I vote no and to try eharmony.com where they match people on 17-19 areas of compatability. It would be best if she could meet someone close to where she lives and the family can meet him.

What a caring sister you are.

Joy to you!!!

Talk to your sister and ask her did he ask for commitment, put that ring on her finger, and say that he loves her more than anything! Ask her those questions and see did he do those things,if he didn't tell her to let him go!This is from a real sista!

Well, your sister must see something in this man, and you have to let her follow her chosen path. But, you have to watch her whenever you can and make sure shes alright.

He obviously comes from a different culture, but, even in his culture, this is suspicious behavior...

She needs to be careful. It sounds suspicious and unsafe for her to go alone. Maybe your father and mother should go with her if she really wants to go that badly.
