It's really athletic and competitive, so i would say yes.

Golf on the other hand is NOT a sport.

dance and cheering take a lot of physical stamina and skill--if you do it competitively then I say it is a sport. Just because it does not require the movement of a ball or a puck does not mean it isn't a sport. The teams that dance and cheer are just as much a "TEAM" as any football or baseball team. Executing routines and keeping the timing perfect is difficult--takes practice and there are winners and losers as in any other sport. Always have fun with it and enjoy the team spirit--congratulate the other team if you beat them--be a good sport whether you win or lose. Good luck

I consider dance to be an art form and a sport. Cheering is just a sport.

They are both sports, if done competitively against other groups, with judges and scores.

Dance is not a sport if it is solely recreational (like at clubs) or professionally (backup dancers for pop stars, ballet performers, etc). Similarly, cheering is not a sport when it is done to entertain a crowd at a sporting event.

I think so yes. You compete and it is physical work. Color guard and marching band is also a sport. You compete and believe it or not it takes a bunch of physical work. Sorry, I'm in color guard and a lot of people say it's not a sport but people don't know what all we do. It's the same thing with cheerleading and dance. Cheerleaders and dancers and colorguards don't get enough of respect that they deserve.

Dance and cheerleading should never be put in the same category.

The dance I do is art. Modern and ballet are art. It's a physically demading art, but it's art.

Dance team dancing is closer to cheerleading. Dance team and cheerleading are sports.

I think so. When you dance and cheer, you're being active. Moving around a lot. So, I think it is a sport.

cheerleading is not a sport. They do it at sporting events. That's like saying that the people who cheer at games is a sport. Being a fan is not a sport.

Dance I guess could be based on more athletic attributes.
