I'm sorry, Spencer reminds me more of a boys name.

Just be prepared for people to refer to "her" as a "him". I'm a triage nurse so I talk to parents all day on the phone and giving a male name to a female and vice versa may be "cute" and "original" to you but don't go ballistic when they are referred to the gender the name is usually associated with. Like Payton/Peyton, Spencer, Emmitt (yes it's a girls name too), Jerrin (again female too), Stacy, Tracy, Kody, etc.

Personally, I don't like it. I'm more or a perfectionist when it comes to naming. I'm not a fan of crazy, weird sounding/spelled out names, or boys names for girls (and vice versa). But that is my personal opinion.

Umm... it's okay. It is a boy's name but it's feminine enough to pass for a girls name. Maybe consider it as a middle name so that people don't think she's a boy.

Thing is, it will be her name. To drag through life. Will she like it? Will she thank you for it?
I had a problem naming my sons. Certain family members thought they should be honored by having my sons named after them. Nuts, said I, and gave then "do it yourself" names. Like "William Edward ...". Now, son, it is YOUR name. Do with it what you will, for it is yours alone. Are you Bill? Will? Willy? Ed? Eddie, William? Edward? W. Edward ...? Roll your own from the pieces provided and go forth in life with your own name and be your own man. And, it worked. From a little kid, as Bill, he transitioned his name over the years. Now, married and settled down, he is William. And, in between, all the permutations.
Just another idea, for what it is worth.
