Could there be oil beneath the Sahara desert?

There is a lot of oil beneath other desolate areas of the world. I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of any oil exploration there.

One of the worlds largest fields.if not the largest.

Certainly. The controlling questions are: How much? How concentrated? What quality? and Under Who's land? The key to recovery is ECONOMICS!
