I'm running a HP Pavilion a1520n with:
- AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 3800+ @ 2.0GHz
- 1 GB DDR2-SDRAM
- 300W Power Supply
- GeForce 6150 LE

I want to upgrade my card so I can play some new games, such as Unreal Tournament 3. I've been looking into the 8000 series from nVidia and was wondering... which should I buy? I know the 8600GT is better than tha 8500GT, but can my power supply run the 8600? Also, are any of the 7000 series options a better choice for me? Appreciate any help. Thanks

How do I know if I have 15amps on the +12V rail? Is there a way I can check?

8600GT is a pretty decent mainstream card that draws only about 30 watts or 2.5 amps on the +12V rail of power supply. It should be an awesome upgrade to your integrated graphics.

Any power supply with at least 15 amps on the +12V rail should be able to power the 8600GT.

well that's a standard new age comp.

Good choice for selecting the 8000series of Nvidia Geforce.

Better get the 8600GT because it has the highest value for money, it has features!!, it has performance!! for just about $160.00

For the power supply better upgrade to 450W PSU from Antec, Cooler Master.
