The Huns came out of central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kirgiz, Tadhzhikistan, and southern Siberia) about 2000 years ago. The Mongols came out of northeastern and central Asia (Mongolia, China, southern Siberia, and Kazakhstan) about 1000 years ago. The Huns were almost certainly related to the Mongols, since they occupied some of the same territory, and they had many similar cultural characteristics. However, they didn't leave any written records, so it's impossible to say for sure if the two were the same. The centuries between the two invasions gives plenty of time for migrations, genocides, and assimilations, so it's possible that the Huns had disappeared by the time the Mongols became an identifiable people. -yk

The mongols Would destory the Huns. The mongols captured most of the known world during their time. Mongols were so much that villages/cities didnt fight them because they know that they would die. When they conquered an area they drafted the troops to join their army. They also used siege weapons (trebuchet) effectivly. They spread as far west as Germany and as far north as finalnd. The mongols killed millions of people while they were in power. They were mostly nomadic people who got other nomadic people to help them. The huns were also nomads. they didnt spread that much. They only had europe as their land. They had surperior weapons than their oppenents. They sacked rich cities and had taxation on most cities and areas. They also took in peopel from other tribes. If the Huns and Mongols fought. The Mongols would win.

I m Turkish. I can explain. Huns and Mongolians came from same ancestor. Turks had clans. For example Oghuz Clan. We talk about it with my Mongolian and Kazakh friends. We dont call our ancestor Turkish or Mongolian. Just after that Touman builded Hun Empire and Genghis Khan builded Mongol Empire. We had same culture. Even our Orkhon inscriptions are still in Mongolia. After that Huns emigrated to west cause of insufficient pasture, insufficient space for populous and oppression of China. Some Clans stayed in Asia. Also thats the reason of Migration Period. We still have some same customs.

Let me give you guys a brief explanation. So the Huns were originally ancestors of the Mongolians. After the great king of the Huns died (before Attilla the Hun) there was a war between the two forces for the throne. So they had a war eventually. Attilla the Hun was one of the side. But their side was lost in the process of the war. So they were kinda banished from Hun's original lands (Modern Mongolia). They fled to Europe and everybody knows then what happened. So what I am saying is they were originally Mongolians, but the result of the war made them banish from their home land. But the winning side still continued to live in the land. Time goes and around 12th century a new khan or a warchief have started to unite the Mongolian tribes and his name was Khabul Khan. He is the great grandfather of Chinggis Khan. So Chinggis khan's ancestors are the Hun.

The Huns probably originated on the steppes of Mongolia/Central Asia, and the Mongols definitely originated in Mongolia. They were both hardy, nomadic people. Their tactics were similar, being highly effective light cavalry.
