When OSU lost to Illinois, I thought Ohio State's chances of playing for the National Championship had gone up in smoke. But now that Oregon, Oklahoma, and LSU have lost another game each, my hopes are starting to climb. What do you think their chances are?

very good actually. Probably above 50% (though I dont wish to jinx as I am a buckeye fan. Ohio State goes to the national championship if:

-winner of Kansas/Missouri loses to Oklahoma in Big 12 Championship (with Bradford back, I believe).
-West Virginia loses to UConn tomorrow or Pitt next week.

Each by itself is more unlikely than likely, but all put together, those are some pretty good odds.

Go Bucks!

You may want to check out the site ncsports.com. It's got weekly programs you can down load and has all the stats. Phil Steele is a touter and one fo the best. He had Ohio State pegged to go 10-0 and play for the national title, so the guy knows what he is talking about. Now the deals he sells you have to pay for, but you can down load them free the next week which is loaded with all the info you need.

I watched the first quarter and half of the Illnois game and State was just not there mentally, so I didn't watch the second half. I don't know why the let down but if you saw the game
something was up.

That said they rebounded well and match up pretty good with the other teams. I would like t see some 300 lb. defensive linemen, but the 315 lb offensive lineman will do. Also Illinois lost to Missouri 40-34. So no reason they are not in the spotlight, that I can see. Take care. Funny how these grudge games have so many upsets. Add on, I would figure vegas ha sthe odds, but I'd say 1 to 1.

No Way. Odds are Ohio State 25:1 and Florida 8:1, but if you forget math you'll find that Ohio has no chance. If you lose your Heisman QB, 2 WR, a KR, and a RB just on Offense, your chances of coming back are about a million to one. Besides, look at USC. That team is a powerhouse this year, and only lost 2 WR, but had a solid recruiting class this year, 2nd overall! USC lost only one player on defense, but this year, Lawrence Jackson will be sack hungry, and John David Booty will run for the Heisman. So to answer your question, there is no way that Ohio State and Florida will meet again, mathematically, and if you use your head.

Yes the Big 10 is so weak, they only have 10 of 11 teams bowl eligible. SEC also does but they beat up on each other it is because they are so strong, the Big 10 loses to each other but still manages 10 bowl eligible teams and they are weak. Why the double standard? So what OSU lost big last year? What does that have to do with this year? Hell, Wisconsin (Arkansas)and Penn State(Tenn) beat the mighty SEC teams last year in big bowl games, why isnt that brought up. What about 3 of the past 4 years winning the Fiesta Bowl prior to that? They didnt play Big 10 teams in those games. Fact is until the bowls are played you dont know what conference is the toughest. But to even think that the Big Least, Sun Belt or WAC is tougher than the Big 10 you are dilussional. We will see how strong the mighty SEC and Pac 10 are with there non-defenses.

I'll be honest, I have no clue. But, I think these other people have told you what you need to hear. All I have to say is, all the other schools are just ticked because the Bucks are so good that we keep coming back year after year. Granted, we have been beaten, but we never stay down long. Plus, we must have some great luck or something because a team that lost 9 of their starting offense last year came back this year and was ranked #1 for a few weeks, and now have the chance to win the championship. Just keep saying they won't do it, it just fuels their drive. I predict we get to that game and win it, just for one reason. IT LOOKS IMPOSSIBLE!!! GO Bucks!!

Easy to see that everyone in front of them is losing. Also whoever wins the Kansas/Missouri game has to play Oaklahoma! I think Oaklahoma is a better team whoever they end up playing.
Also West Virgina could lose to UConn, but somewhat doubt it. Then they have to play Pitt.
Could come down to WV vs OSU!
I'd say almost a 100% odds on OSU being in the National Championship game!

If the winner of the Kansas- Missouri game loses in the Big 12 championship game, or WVU loses one of it's last 2 games, OSU has a good shot at the NC game. I think it's more likely that the Big 12 team will fall out than WVU, but this year has proved that you never really know.

Pretty amazing they're a lock. The Kansas _ Missouri winner loses to oklahoma in the big 12 title game and Ohio State takes on West Virginia in the title game. Personally I think that the SEC champ should be in the national title game no matter what, but that's just me.
