Don't do bigger words outright, my friend; the use of such words for its own sake is not the way to go.

The use of words, like the use of numbers, must have a context (a container) to place those words in. Otherwise, it is like placing the hip bone in the collar and the rotating cuff at the shoulder somewhere in the rib cage... See?

You have at your disposal the Internet -- right? That would be an excellent start. Do a search and find out where you can find such books that allow you an understanding of conjugations of words.

What is most suggestible, however, is to find the subjects you prefer to read and then read as much as you can on the subject and write on the subject and be observed by readers of your writings -- whether these are fiction, non-fiction, or scholarly material. Allow words to know the ideas beneath their uses.

There exists book dispensaries whose specialites are solely medical topics or scientific topics. Usually those books are of extreme quality, and rather expensive, however.

Do some foot work:
Go to a Librarian, say in a large public library or see a Librarian in a college of Letters, or a college of Medicine or Public health. The librarians at these places have treasure troves of things they can refer you to and recommend.

I think that book is called, "Pretension for Dummies" Of course, the title is a bit superfluous, but that's pretensions for you! Now, if you actually want to be educated and know what you're talking about when you use those 'big words' rather than just coming off as an annoying idiot to educated people and as a genius to the mentally retarded majority of the population, you should avoid that book and read a lot about the things that interest you and when you come across a word you don't understand use a dictionary. 'Big words' don't fool anyone worth fooling.

Having a strong vocabulary can be very beneficial in college and the work world.

It is very possible that what you want to do, "speak in bigger words", is called elocution. Everyone should strive to become an eloquent speaker and writer.

What you need is a tutor. e-mail me at dudley.jones@yahoo.com. I'm a patient teacher and I'm not going to jump out of the TV tube at you. You must be a patient student in order for me to be a patient teacher.

I have references if you are interested.

What I must stress is that I can't teach if you aren't there.
