Depending which part of the world you live in, you can choose 1 of 2 options.

1. Buy a new BMW roof lining.
2. Have an upholstery shop re-line your roof.

Same thing happened on my 1995 318ti. I took it to a nice old lady who runs an automotive upholstery shop in Singapore, she did the whole job for me for a great bargain (relative to US prices).

If you live in a part of the world where labor is expensive, option 1 is of course the better deal.

Lining a roof is a complicated process that's best left to the experts... or you could turn your interior into a sticky mess.

I took the roof liner in my 1992 525i to a local car audio shop here in Portland and had them re-wrap it in vinyl. Looks nice, and matches the leather seats. Around $200.

bmv1--raise the front end of the vehicle and place it securely on jack stands.bmv2--grip the top and bottom of check for freeplay, or insert a prybar or large screwdriver between the control arm and the subframe or srrut housiong. if there,s any freeply, replace the control arm [[[the balljoints can,t be replaced separately]]]. bmv3--inspect the rubber bushing. if it,s cracked, dry, torn or otherwise deteriorated, replace it.
