I just dont understand whyy the DSl or cable internet providers wont offer me fast internet, when they offer the people less than a half mile down the road dsl and cable.
Everytime i check the availability, they say that there are no servers in my area, and they will let me know when it will be available in my area.
They havent contacted me yet., and i dont expect them to.
What can i do to obtain dsl or cable internet here?
Should i just call and call and call and call them, till it pisses them off enough to where they will come and run the damn lines????
It really makes me mad when they do this kinda stuff.
If anyone has any advice, pleasseeeeee let me knoww, thankss

The internet signal goes thru booster locations called "pops". The signal degrades quickly over regular lines. The distance that you are from the pop decides how much service you can get. The distance affects it so quickly that the person across the street from you might be able to get something you cant.

You might also check into satellite. That can be a decent connection for areas that cant get dsl or cable.

There is also microwave if you are high up with a good line-of-sight that doesnt go thru peoples houses, and you are willing to pay for it.

And there is WiFi if you are in a city area with a decent local internet providor. Someone in your county?

I lucked out. I live right next to a pop. I have dsl that is 2 notches higher than most houses get, and I run 2 internet servers from my house. And there are 3 notches higher than I have that I could get if I wanted to pay for it. I could get enough connection to become an ISP

If you have a few neighbors around you who also want cable internet get together and make a plan to contact the build out decision makers at your cable company to bring it up the road, they will only wire it if it's going to pay for itself with enough subscribers.

As far as DSL, the telco won't install beyond two miles of the central office where your phone service exchange is located, shop every possible company offering DSL in your area, some offer products that work well beyond two miles.

Additionally, verify that your address is showing correctly in their databases, sometimes, especially with newer homes, the agent keys the address and it doesn't show on the screen so they say 'we don't offer service at your location, goodbye'

Dsl isn't located around everywhere; i was lucky to get 512mb service. My advice is to get a laptop and go wi-fi on Starbucks.
