She can call herself what she likes but I agree, it's weird.
It annoys me that my husband's ex wife still calls herself Mrs K. I'M Mrs K not her. I feel that it implies she is Mr K's wife which she is clearly NOT!
If I were ever to divorce there is no way I would want to have a name that associated with an ex. You just have to learn to live with it though, you don't OWN the name so you can't stop her from using it but I think she is being a bit silly really.

Texting is private and intimate. Texting is the perfect way to create a private and intimate world between you and the man or woman in your life. Learn here https://tr.im/3bD6l
For women in particular, texting can end up being a fun “game” where they can do or say anything (even things they would never do in the “real” world). Texting is non confrontational. Odds are your relationship ended on a heated note. I don’t know why you and your ex broke up, but there was probably at least one (if not a few dozen) big fights. Done properly (the way I’m going to teach you), texting is simple and subtle. You can slowly feed your ex tested and proven messages and ideas without the risk of either one of you flying off the handle, falling back into old and destructive patterns, and throwing plates at each other.

It may be that your name is the only respectable thing she has and if your adult child has your last name she may want to be known publically by his last name which is also yours. If she wants to pay the court to change her name she can do so as long as a judge says yes and she can pay. Unless she has a criminal record or is doing so to avoid debts. Just because she keeps doing it , it doesn't mean that she is your responsibility,it just means she is a a sad or vindictive lady. Don't give her the satisfaction of knowing it bothers you.

From my expierence I know of no law in the US that states a woman has to take back her maiden name after a divorce.
I know in Minnesota, that a married couple can totally change there names upon marriage, they don't even have to take their sposes names. And upon divorce can switch back to there maiden names if they like or chose to keep there married name or pick another last name.

I know it must annoy you that she keeps reverting back to your surname after she has had so many........ Phew! Its just possible you were the one man that meant most to her, especially having a child together. I would put add in newspaper stating that you have no association with the person known as ?????? Can you imagine her having a court appearance =Mrs So n So also known as......... etc etc!!

To me it sounds like she has serious self-esteem issues. Getting married 5 times and changing her name each time (and then back to yours) shows that she needs to be 'Mrs Somebody' for her to feel good about herself. If you are uncomfortable about her using your name, then you should certainly consider seeking legal advice.

Cuz she can hide all her marriages with assuming that name. You can ask a lawyer. I have herd of women doing it out of convenience and the kids,, but you said yours is grown. You could just ask her! My mom just took back her maiden name.. now that is more common.
