20 Mule Team Borax added with your regular detergent is awesome for whites and colors... it really gets things clean.

Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing is perfect for whites that have become yellow or dingy. It's found in the laundry aisle and comes in a small, blue plastic bottle. You only add a few drops to the rinse cycle, so a bottle will last forever....

My g-ma always used oxy clean.

She would get a bucket of cold water and a scoop of oxyclean, then she would add her whites, washing them last. Giving them time to soak.

P.S. Oxyclean is a very good stain remover especially on whites. Apply oxyclean to the stain area...use a tooth brush to clean the stain and then soak in oxyclean (in a bucket or sink) Also try revolve. It works almost as good as oxyclean! Its a carpet cleaner but works well w/ laundry stains!

Good Luck!

Please don't use bleach, the dioxins in bleach are horrible for the environment....it goes right into the animals food & water supply and ours too. Uck...I would try the non-bleach alternatives that actual work and are not harmful....like 7th generation or Ecover. They have great products coming out for cleaning, laundry etc. Hope this helps.

I use Borateem or Borax in the wash cycle.
Then hang them in the sun to dry.
The sunshine naturally bleaches them.
