Out of the CSU's, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is considered to be the best for engineering. According to US News 2008, the college of engineering was ranked the #1 public undergraduate school (#4 overall) in the nation. Hope that helps.

Go to the CSU website to find specific information on each campus. I did my MA at SF State because it is ranked highly (or was, not sure now) for literature, but other programs there were also very good.

The Cal Poly schools are OK (just OK). None of the others are very good at all. They are not selective and do not have very good reputations.

If you can get into a UC school -- go to one of them. They are exceptional.

I think UC Berkeley is one of the top ranked UCs and is good for engineering. Probably UCLA too.
