I am thinking of it as a gift

I have had three different types of electric toothbrush over the years, and I would have to say that they are far superior to the manual....they allow you to just shove that brush head into whatever areas need cleaning, without having to worry about wearing out your own wrist trying to scrape your teeth clean.

And they are much kinder on my arthritis than a manual as well....just think of the action you have to do to use the brush in it's proper manner -- an up and down scraping of the bristles, while holding the brush horizontal -- that is a lot of wear on an arthritic wrist!!

Definitely electric...and if it is to be a gift for an adult, get one with replaceable heads, and a couple of fresh heads with it. And the new Colgate total toothpaste is supposed to be marvelous. My youngest daughter was telling me that it got rid of a sore in her gums in just two days!

The power toothbrush I have has a charger and it does 300 revolutions per minute. It would take me 10 minutes to brush that well by a manual one. Check out the comparison online--type in toothbrush comparison electric manual. I got a study that recommends oscillating electric is better than manual in fighting gingivitis and plaque.

I think an electric toothbrush is a nice gift. Both work well if used properly. I use both. Most of the time, I don't brush long enough with the electric one. I kinda buzz and go!

Have a electric toothbrush setting in my cupboard. Like manual better than the electric.

I use a manual, I did have an electric a bit ago but they are just so loud in my opinion, plus I'm not really into the vibrating and spinning on my teeth, it kinda hurts, but I do have really sensitive teeth. I probably should go back to electric, it would clean my teeth better, sometimes it feels like you just don't get everything, you know? Is your toothbrush a good one? Would you recommend it? Thanks :)

My teeth have never been in better condition since I bought an electric toothbrush (on my dentist's recommendation) years ago. Cut my dental bills to nothing (aside from the checkup cost). I will never use a manual again.

Manual is good but I prefer the electric toothbrush. It is all in one's personal choice.

The last time I visited my dentist, he recomended an electric toothbrush with a circular motion. I still use my regular one as it's quicker.

I think an electric works better. It moves faster than I can with a manual so they get cleaner, faster.
