Abortion is so prevelent because women just cant take responsibility for their actions.
Its about time women took responsibility just like men are forced to take responsibility.

I think the only valid reasons for having an abortion are when the life of the mother is endangered or when the baby would have severe birth defects. There are other options than abortion. People are waiting in long lines to adopt children. Its a touchy issue, I get that, and I'm thankful I've never been in the situation where I had to make that choice. As far as the father's influence... I understand and believe that the father should have some say in the matter but I also think its a hard thing to force a woman to carry a baby to term for someone else. And once we start down that road where does it end? Though the cases are rare, would a rapist then have the right to force a woman to have a baby after a rape? Or would we write in a special circumstance there? And if so then where would the special circumstances end? There's a difference between talking about this in theory and talking about it in practice. How do you protect both parents' rights? You may say the woman could have been on birth control and avoided the situation except that birth control isn't 100% effective and, likewise, the guy could have used birth control to avoid the situation as well. I have no answer for the father's rights. That's something I'm still struggling with. But as for the abortion itself I believe that the baby is a life and the only valid reason for ending a pregnancy is when the mother or child would be at severe risk.

Well, I agree with all of the above, but also there shouldn't have to be the enforced responsibility of motherhood, and it should happen if the mother wants the child, however if I ever was in this predicament I couldn't go through with an abortion as I personally don't believe it's the child's fault for being concieved, and I would probably put it up for adoption. However, saying that I do believe it is the individual's choice.

To me, valid reasons for abortion include:
Failed birth control
Health reasons of woman
Rape
Risk to fetus
Risk of life to woman
While pregnancy is a possibility that comes with sexual intercourse, it is not the sole function of sex. Many women use birth controls because they want to enjoy sex just as men do, without creating a baby. It is not fair or right to force a woman to carry an unwanted fetus against her will for 9 months and endure excrutiating pains just because some other people believe she should. All of that happens before getting to the adoption agency, and it's not right to force women into that when she used protection to avoid that in the first place. Women are not incubators who should be forced against their will like punishment for pregnancy. If you don't approve of abortion, don't have one - but keep your opinions off women's bodies and let her decide how to handle it. I realize it is a living thing at conception, but it is not a baby yet, and I think abortions within the first month of conception are ok but not after. Yes, it should be the woman's choice and it's not an easy one. A friend of mine from my high school days was the child of a rapist. She knew her father was a rapist and that's how she entered the world, and she was very troubled.

5, 6. The other ones concerning the mother's emotional or economical situation, are too, but should be render impossible to be a reason by education. Same goes with the father's, although to prevent parental leave, not abortion.
The ones who have to do with the possibility of an unhealty or possible death of a child are dumb. If you want that baby, his/her limits shouldnt be a problem, and its stupid to consider him/her to be unworthy to live, just because he/she will never have the same abilities than you. Besides, I have a cousin with mental retardation, and she's recently got a degree in bibliotecology or however it is said in english. She only failed one subject, and passed it at the 2nd try.

You know - the problem I have with these questions and answers to abortion questions are that they are so black and white, "you shouldn't be doing that if you can't handle the consequences" knee-jerk reaction and STILL seem to always blame the girl/woman.
I think responsibility should be taken BOTH people having sex. You know the risks for "winging it", and for trusting the other person when they say they are protected. You STILL should protect yourself - no matter what that person says.
Think about it - when you are in the heat of the moment, someone is going to say everything is fine just so the fun can begin.

I doubt any woman considering an abortion does it as a whim. It's not like getting a botox treatment.
I also don't believe the father should be the deciding factor, although his input should be considered.

A woman's choice on if she wants to have the baby or not. I couldn't mention the reasons or give some sanction and others not. The conservative right tend to think that women who abort are bad people that need to be protected from themselves. They do not understand that the decision to abort is a very difficult decision that women do not make easily. I am pro-woman and i think that people that think it is their right to mandate what women do with their own very wombs have too much time on their hands

Any reason that a woman wants to have one she can. I don't care why she wants one as long as she has the right to a safe and legal abortion! Go Roe vs Wade!

rape, health of mother, are the only two I can think of to be the most important towards having an abortion.
