No, it is not my baby.

And yes, I meant Downs Syndrome, or some equivalent.

That is a difficult decision. I think I wouldn't keep her.
But, there would be some emotional backlash with that choice.

Depends. What's the problem?

I was supposed to have mental problems, but I came out normal - life is what's causing my current mental issues.

If we are talking Downs, I don't know any families with a Downs child that regret keeping them. Downs children can be at least as challenging as any other child, but they can also be more loving and forgiving.

I think if my wife were pregnant with a child with known mental issues, I would have to ask what the risks were to her and what the long term prognosis is for the child.

Honestly I wouldn't abort the baby. Just because it has mental problems doesn't mean someone should just throw the babies life away just like that. The baby deserves to live its life to the fullest.

Well... what kind of mental problems? Are you referring to Down Syndrome or something? Most mental problems cant be detected until the child ages. So...... you get what you get, like Russian roulette. No, I wouldnt abort. Who is to say your "seemingly" normal child doesnt turn into a physco serial killer one day??

well...as hard as it may be...or prove to be...it is never our place to chose life or death for someone else...keep the baby...only God can/should make life/death decisions...you will always have it on your conscience about your abortion..it won't go away...abortion is murder...the doctor kills the baby...as soon as a baby is conceived...it is a baby human...it can feel...it has senses...not all...make the right choice...don't abort the baby...please...the doctor told my mom that there was a strong chance I would be mentally retarded...but i am here today...pretty smart, healthy...playing the sport i love & being w/ my family & friends...this is a serious decision...the doctors can never be sure anyways...trust me...

you cant be completely sure what a child will be until they are born. and if you cant deal with it then, loko into adoption. several people have a heart for disabled children and would gladly take it.

medicine is a sicence, but not an exact one. give the baby a living chance. and even if it is disabled, it is still a worthwhile human.

Keep it! To me that would be like asking " If your baby almost drown in a bathtub and the paramedics were able to save it but the lack of oxygen caused brain damage would you wish it would have just died".

Keep them! I've worked with handicapped children, and though they may not see the world like we do, they shed a wonderful light on it. They are such a blessing to be with.

What's sweet is they don't even know anything's different about them, which makes them really innocent.
