if a 16 year old has a credit card in his name, is it legal for him/her to buy things online?

hahaha i have a debit card (linked to my bank account) in my name, but im not sure if its legal for me to buy things online.
so no i did not steal my parents credit card -__-x

I'm pretty sure you can't buy anything online until you are 18 because you need a credit card to do it and usually you can't get one until you are 18. In some cases though, you may be able to get a credit card to pay for stuff online when you are 16. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Of course a 16 year old can buy things online.... I'm 17 and I can use my debit card in various places. A credit card, no, a debit card yes.

I would be careful then what sites you are using it on, considering it is linked right to your bank account. I still don't think a 16 year old can actually get a debit card, but eh. I wouldn't suggest using it.

A 16 year old cannot have a credit card in their name, they aren't of legal age to sign the agreement. Same goes for the bank account - I'm sure that your parents had to sign paperwork for it.

It's perfectly legal, UNLESS the site you are buying from has language in it that says that you must be 18 to shop.
A lot of companies won't sell to minors because under the law of most jurisdictions, a minor has a right to change his mind and get his money back, which an adult doesn't have unless the seller chooses to have a return policy.

it is illegal for children under 18 to purchase items on the internet, i guess if he had a parent's credit card he could.. but it's illegal
