She is ok for now..try to get some fluids in her, even if you have to use a medicine dropper - That saved our situation many a time.

Babies who are congested frequently lose their appetite for a few days . At 9 months she can go a bit longer than a younger infant. Is she still having wet diapers? Can you pinch up a bit of skin on the back of her hand and it immediately snaps back? Do her eyes look sunken in her head? Does she still cry real tears? Do her mucus membranes still look moist? Do you just feel in your gut that she is very ill? Is she willing to be distracted and play or is she obviously listless? All of those questions will give you a good idea about how long you should wait before heading for the doctor. Try a bit of applesauce or smashed up banana. Even a little watered down juice or Pedialyte will probably tempt her to eat and most babies will be looking for the breast or bottle at about 8 hours. If she starts to run a temperature, begins to vomit or have diarrhea it is time to see the pediatrician.

The only advice to give you which you should take at this forum right now, is to be in contact with your doctor, or someone filling in for your doctor. 6 hours is a long time for your 9 month old "awake" hours to go without food or drink. But basically it doesn't matter what our opinions are here, though I know why your asking. You need a professional who knows what antibiotics your little one is one, and can reccommend what to do as far as hydrating him. Don't hesitate to take him into the clinic....new moms do this all the time...it's ok.
Hope I helped.

Err on the side of going too often. There are no stupid questions except those that went unasked. Besides, she's not on the antibiotics for a cold, so she's obviously got a bacterial bug somewhere or the doctor wouldn't have given you an antibiotic (as it doesn't work on viruses like the flu or a common cold). Go to the doctors.

She just isn't feeling well right now. Make sure you offer her a bottle periodically to remind her she has the option to eat. I would say wait like 24 hrs before you start worrying. Sometimes people, even adults if you remember your own situations, just don't feel like eating for a while. Give her some love and keep your eyes open for any wierd behavior, or wierder than usual! Good luck hon.

Have you tried everything? Freeze pops, pedialite etc?
If shes throwing up and or has dierrea I would probably start watching for signs of dehydration like now.
Babies can become dehydration fast, If she goes more than 6 hours without a wet diaper, lack of tears while crying, are indications shes becoming dehydrated
If your in doubt it doesnt hurt to call the doctors office, its their job, and they are there to help and advise you.

im a first time mom too and boy - those first illnesses were crazy as i was second guessign the situation- . havea 2 year old who was chronically sick the first year.
improvising is good. popsicles - ice cubes- anything that interests a kid. - icecream- i dotn care about the sugar content at this stage.
paedialyite is good to drink- krogers is th e cheaper brand - it gets important stuff itno them faster
your rea0l 0concern - the docs told me is if theystop havign wet diapers.- then call into your docs.
if they are active then hold off and wait= if they are flat on teh floor and restless - there may be somethign else goign on- and that needs to be treated fast.

If she has diarrea, then be concerned, because that will dehydrate in a quick minute, and you would have to take her to get fluids at the hospital. If not, try in the night to give her some water, if she still doesnt want it, then let her go till morning, sleep it off, and see if she feels better, if not, i would take her to see the doctor.

As long as she is still peeing on a regular basis she should be fine. Try to at least get water in her system somehow. My daughter didn't eat for 3 days when she was teething, but she still drank milk and water. Use a sippy cup or try a bottle. If that doesn't work, try a regular cup just to at least get some water in her.

As long as her urine isn't dark she should be fine. I would say she can go at least 12 hours without drinking, and probably longer. I wouldn't worry about food really.
Will she eat jello, pudding, soup or Popsicles? All count as liquid.
