How would I go about starting a band?

Question

I play piano at an intermediate/advanced level. I love classic rock. I am a self-taught guitar player and could learn chords to play with music. I love to sing, and although I am not a world-class singer, I think I could pass for a rock band. How would I go about starting a band?

Firstly do you know anyone or have any friends which would like to join in on your band venture. If not there are plenty of community websites and newspapers where you can advertising looking for band members.

Once you establish band members, create a myspace page to get your music out there. Start booking at open mic nights or battle of bands to get practise after you create original songs.

Well if you have a myspace you can advertise their to see if anyone else is looking to start a band. Check to see if you have any friends that play instruments and ask if they'd like to join. Starting a band may sound easy but it really isn't, to get more popular and more fans you'd have to play shows in venues or basements/garages, which takes money and the proper equipment. You'd also have to advertise via myspace/post fliers.

Piano is great for this, just jam yourself and add members when someone comes along that you feel fits well with you. ive played some songs with only piano and guitar that sounded great, establsh yourself and one day you can get a whole group together and rock the party man

find people you know (and are at least casual friends with or are willing to become friends with) that have musical tallent, and form a band. after you decide who's gonna do what in the band (anyone can do anything, thats the beauty of it, you don't need to fill designated positions, as long as you have a basic drum, bass, guitar and vocals you can do anything, and people can do more than one thing)

try to get friends or people you know, have aditions, if you have a member aready the whole band must decide on a new member,put flyers out for a band get people that are in your level so that you do not waste your time playing catch up. have rehersels or do not even have a bad at all. practice practice practice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a washboard with shoulder straps couple a symbols, a ca zoo or harmonica with holder,a bass drum with a foot peddle you can work standing up. You should be set up for a one man band.

Do you want to play in an actual band? Or do you want to be like Trent Reznor and go industrial, using production techniques to produce your music, adding drum tracks, and other stuff? Or do you just want to simply play by yourself, overdubbing your music?
