Is it similiar to a cramp? Is it similiar to having given birth? Will you be able to breathe? I have read so many posts but no one have describe "pain" and some have stated that you'll be on painkillers. I am having one done on Dec 17. After reading these posts I am starting to get scared. I know one person's pain is different than anothers and one's recovery is different but if I don't have anyone to watch over me can anyone give some pointers of what to do with myself? So many questions. I like to know if I will be able to go online and read more posts? BTW, I would appreciate anyone if they can pray for me to get through with the gitters...thank you

When i had mine, the pain wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. I was very sore, but not in severe pain. I went home the next day after surgery. I'm a big baby, and i got through the whole thing pretty easy. For me, having a baby was way worse then my surgery!!! It's hard to go by everyone's stories tho, remember, everyone has a different reaction to things. I'm sure you'll do just fine. Best of luck to you :-)

I had a total and when i woke up it was the worst pain I have ever experienced the meds took what seemed forever to kick in the nurse told me we wanted to make sure you woke up before we gave you pain medicine. A little later I heard another woman screaming I just figured this is the way this works. It has been three weeks and it is a tough operation make sure you have someone to help you out.

It depends on how it will be done. If you have a total abdominal, you will be in the hospital 2 to 4 days and will have a lot of pain. My wife took almost a full year to recover. They remove the uterus and the ovaries.
If you have a vaginal, you will have a much shorter recovery.
In some ways it is harder than childbirth. Water therapy helps a lot when your doctor says it's ok to get wet. Be careful not to lift too much. And don't go back to full time work or anything else.
