IMO Manfred Mann's version of "Blinded by the Light" is far better than Bruce Springsteen's.

but for me their version of
Mighty Quinn is the epitome of a cover superior to the original.
I looooove the earthband, just listening to their CD Watch.

I think Stevie Ray Vaughans version of "Voodoo Chile" (slight return) is better than Jimi Hendrix's version.
Jimi Hendrix version of "All Along The Watchtower" is better than Bob Dylan's version.

This is probably very cheesy, but I actually liked Michael Damian's remake of 'Rock On' better than David Essex's original. Def Leppard's version isn't bad, either.

"Respect" by Aretha Franklin, originally by Otis Redding and "All Along the Watchtower" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, originally by Bob Dylan.
Also, the songs that Elvis and Led Zeppelin "covered" but with different arrangements. Most of them at least. If only they had the genius to actually write those songs...although at least Led Zeppelin slowly got out of that habit and wrote more original songs.
