I asked an Arab friend what his country's response would be to a problem we are having with our school district and he thought I was joking .......

My son wore a cross to school and the school had him remove it as it might offend someone - so I asked my friend what would happen to a Christian wearing a cross in Egypt..

He told me nothing would happen - his Muslim country has no problem with Christians wearing crosses in public , at school or university.

That seems rather strange to me - in the US we are so worried about offending non Christians and political correctness that we are repressing Christians worse than a Muslim repubic govenment.

Anyone else see the irony in that? Opinions please.

Joe T - you don't have to believe me....

The fact is - this actually happened to my son and I do have Muslim friends. Wasn't sure which part you didn't believe so I thought I would elaborate.

Truth is stranger than fiction at times.

Simple explanation, (not), the political correctness that has flooded the country has freedom of religion confused with freedom from religion.

You see we are free to worship anyway we please as long as we do not harm anyone, or any thing.

The problem arises when the extreme left decided that they shouldn't have to even see or in some cases even hear about any religion.

So because one man has to see a cross on his way to work, it has to be removed so it does not offend him, After all he has freedom FROM religion now.

And anyone who thinks this is what the constitution means really has to be a member of that extreme left.

Egypt has many Coptic Christians living there. The former Egyptian Foreign Minister and former Secretary General of the United Nations Boutros Boutros-Ghali is a Coptic Christian.
BTW, the principal of your child's school is an idiot. The presence of a cross will only be deemed dangerous or offensive by Count Dracula.

I could understand if he was forcing people to the ground and shoving the cross in their faces, but I don't see how wearing a cross can offend any reasonable person.

Are students at this school also not allowed to advertise the local sports team, because not everyone likes them? I guess soon they'll have to wear nothing but plain white t-shirts.

Catholics should wear Crucifixes -- not empty Crosses -- around their necks.

Why Crucifixes instead of empty Crosses?

Because, as did Paul, we preach Christ crucified, and know that we get to the Resurrection through the Cross, that we are called to pick up our own crosses and carry them, offering up our sufferings in imitation of Him.

I Corinthians 1:23-24 "But we preach Christ crucified: unto the Jews indeed a stumblingblock, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God

It is because the right wing has been so forceful, pushing their dogma on everyone that some in the left pushed back a little to hard////
