My daughter will be 3 months on december 6th. She had her shots the other day, and at that doctors appointment i was asked how much shes eating. She eats 4 to 6 ounces of milk every 3 hours, sometimes longer sometimes shorter. My doctor looked at me like i was nuts, asked if she spits up alot and i said no, because she really doesnt. What is the normal for a 3 month old 14 pound baby to be eating? How often?.. She sleeps 9pm-12 when she gets up to eat.. Then 12:30-8 or 9 in the morning. Shes a EXCELLENT sleeper, and eater as well.

Also, my doctor told me i can start baby cereal at 4 months, becuase of how shes progressing. When did you start yours???

Take her weight in lbs (14) and multiply by 2.5 which equals 35. That means she should take a minimum of 35 oz per 24 hour period. If she takes more, that is ok, but no less than 35 oz per day. As for the cereal, the WHO and local WIC offices really recommend holding off on the cereal until 6 months. She's doing so great on formula, why rush things? She's doing just fine without the cereal and doesn't need it nutritionally. Since I know roughly three hundred people are going to give me the thumbs down, I've added some links to back up what I've said.

4 months is right on target with rice cereal, and your baby is eating fine at 4 to 6 oz. every 3 hours. Keep up the good work

Congratulations! I had a daughter two months ago. She was 6lb 2oz at birth, and now weighs almost 11 pounds! She will eat 6 oz of formula, or breast feed for an hour at least! every 3 hours, if not more often. I think that "normal" is for each baby to decide. If your daughter is hungry - feed her - she won't eat until she makes herself sick. Good luck, and be happy you have a healthy little girl who has all those dimples to kiss!

I breastfed so don't know how much she had at each feed. I didn't start rice cereal until my daughter was 6 and a bit months old. She didn't need it before then, happy being breastfed and was putting on weight. To me what your daughter is eating and amounts and times sounds good to me. Don't force rice cereal unless your sure it's what you want to do. They typically don't need anything but milk until they are 6 months old.

I started rice cereal at 5 1/2 months. I breastfed so I never knew how many ounces my daughter got. Good luck!

i think that your baby will eat as much as she needs as far as forumla go's, as long as she is gaining weight she is eating enough every baby is different, my son was 12.5 ounds at 2 months and having 4 6-8 oz bolttles, you can try cereal at four months i did and it went fine, at first i did it at dinner time because it was easiest for our family.
