There is a way if your bid meets certain guidelines as follows:

It's considered very bad form to do that. Unless you have a really good excuse (car accident, whatever) where you can't follow through, you've made a bid that is binding. These are legit auctions and you're responsible for your bids.

You can hope someone outbids you. You can try contacting the bidder and explaining you got carried away, but be prepared for negative feedback from that. You can buy it if nobody else bids, then turn around and resell it or contact a previous bidder on the item and see if they want to buy it from you.

click on the bid section..Lets say the auction says 22 bids or something like that..Click on that 22...and it will take you to the area where you can view everybodys bids..All the way at the bottom, there is something that says "Retract Bid."..Click on that, put in the auction number and just state a reason why...And you are done.....

You can't cancel the bid.
You can click the Ask the Seller button and beg the seller to cancel your bid, but the seller is under no obligation to do so. You have to pay for it if you win. Your bid is a legally binding contract. Ebay is not a game.
