When they're not praying for what the person wants or needs...but for what THEY want to happen in the person's life.(even if it seems like a good prayer..it might not be what that person wants or needs and would even be harmful to that person..even tho the pray-er doesn't realize it)(Maybe that's why Jesus said ,"Pray for yourselves and for your children.")

My source is my past experience in going to a lot of prayer groups.
I know this is religious...but I consider witchcraft part of the paranormal.

PS Another thing Jesus said was, "When you pray..go to your closet and pray to your father in secret. And your father who hears you in secret will hear and answer you." (If only I had kept my prayers secret!!)

What I mean is..when people pray for you...isn't that kind of like controlling you or controlling your life?
Someone was concerned that I didn't say white or black witchcraft. I don't know that much about the difference in the two.

who me...We used to say our prayer requests outloud at church. How I regret that!!

Paw...I don't believe it's selfish to pray for things you need...or reasonable things you want. What father wouldn't try to give their child the things they need and even things they want...to please them?

Personaly I donot pray.
I had a prayer answered I believe. Events ocored in well shocking or unusual ways and eventualy after the dust cleard thigs worked out just as I asked. With a price. Just dont wish for stuf or speak the words out loud. Some one maye turn your world upside down and inside out to make it hapen all with good intentions minde you.

Yes the spoken word and a directed request are powerful
but remember there maye be consequences.

Praying is actually White Magic; which is speaking directly to the divine source/consciousness. If your intentions are good, the prayer will help the individual in the most positive way for the them - and it may not be necessarily in the way the person that prayed meant for it to happen.

Black Magic is when you intentionally manipulate the physical environment around you (physically manifesting the prayer, making it more real to get a stronger result). Examples such as talisman magic, herbal magic, creating potions (storing the 'magic' inside), etc. This type of craft can backfire because it involves using lower energies, thus can invoke 'naughty' spirits and cause havoc with the prayer.

(Denie, I know it didn't really answer your question, but I just wanted to get that sorted - though I hope it helped).

No, praying isn't at all like witchcraft. Just because you pray for something or someone, doesn't mean that it's going to happen. It would be like witchcraft, if just the mere fact that you prayed about it, would make it happen. But God himself decides whether something should or shouldn't happen. If you could sway lives by praying then it's witchcraft. If you pray for a need or want, it's not witchcraft, it's selfish and you won't have the prayer answered anyhow probably. IE praying to win the lottery.

,well I suppose that could be true, but I kind of think God could see thru these prayers pretty easily. I am not sure though, one can equate these prayers to witchcraft unless the person was intentionally doing so, but then they wouldn't be praying to the all mighty then, now would they?
Edit: to some there is a difference between white and black arts. I am not so taken by these differences. witchcraft is witchcraft, sorcery, and their liken are all paganism. Jesus was very clear about these things. Beware of false Prophets. As for your prayers, they are between yourself and the father. i mean nothing personal to others who may disagree with me and that is their right.

if you look at the definition of paranormal, it means denoting event or phenomina that are beyond the scope of normal science. basically things that science cannot prove. witchcraft is paranormal. no science can ever prove that because only some experiences it. not everyone. however, you have to understand that the region you live in has a lot to do with witchcraft. such as oregon or boston where there were a lot of witchcraft in the 1800s.
the best thing to do is to consult a parapsychologist. if you go to a regular doctor, they will test you, give you medicine, and possibly put you in the hospital ward. be careful.
good luck

Praying and magick and are different ways to for the same thing. Difference is the divine is behind prayer so it should much stronger . The strength of faith/belief of the person effects the results so the devout or well initiated can have all sorts of things happen.

If the prayers are well intended, then there should be no harm in saying them. Chances are, a good or bad prayer will have the same odds of being fulfilled. Events, good or bad, in a person's life are random and occur whether or not one prays for them.

Prayers are NOT witchcraft. The bible specifically warns against witchcraft and sorcery. As with prayers for yourself the prayers you make for others have an underlying rule: You may not always get what you want, but you will get what you need.

Prayer like magick is nothing more than a request from a higher power to make change happen. Some times it works sometimes it don't, only prayer is a lot less complicated.

I believe prayers are for those who do the praying. It makes you feel like you are doing some thing good, and therefore help you feel better, but if God answered anyones prayers at all, then no one would die from any disease. They are self fulfilling, not helpful for those you are praying for.
