So I have a video that's in .rm format and I know the video is fine, aka not corrupted. But everytime I try to start the video it says "a general error has occured" and won't start playback, is there some codec or something that I need? Any help is appreciated.

.rm is Real Media format, so you would need RealPlayer or other player that plays .rm files. That could be one reason. Another reason could be that the codecs are not properly installed and you may need to reinstall the program you use to play .rm files (RealPlayer or otherwise) to get it to play properly.
