Kevin Rudd will likely be the next prime minister because people had lost trust in John Howard whom they felt had overstayed in his office.

I think John Howard will be re-elected. This election call to mind a time when the entire London-based media predicted John Major would be swept from office and his party sent packing over to the opposition benches. Trouble was they forgot to travel about the countryside to find people who were not in lock-step with the big city folks. Major remained at Number 10 and his party even picked up a few more seats.
But, I do think some sort of national award should be given to the chap who placed an advert in the paper and put the Australian PM's official residence up for sale. Now that is rich political humor which anyone can enjoy.
