We do the same thing. I think a collection of books is good. We limit it to $25 and no gift cards allowed. Gender neutral gifts, there are some great books out there for everyone. Plus a gift basket of different foods, jellies, coffees, etc would be nice. How about a cozy throw for the sofa. We play a game whereby you are allowed to take anothers gift and switch. It is alot of fun, you never know what you will end up with.

one of those reloadable 'one great gift cards.' they're like debit cards kindof, and they're totally gender neutral, so a guy doesn't get stuck with victoria's secret and so on.
there's always the option of crayons and tube socks though. :)
