Im pregnant, 23 weeks, But I'm asking about my sister in law, she is close to 12 weeks pregnant, she woke up covered in blood today and alot of it, she went to the ER, they checked for a heartbeat via doppler, couldnt find a heartbeat, is it too early to hear a heartbeat this early?? I was able to hear my son's heartbeat thru an internal sonogram at about 8 weeks, She is a very tiny petite girl!! The Er sent her home and did no further testing, do you think she will miscarry??

First let me say I hope that everything will be okay for your sister. I had a miscarriage in July and this same thing happened to me. I woke up bleeding heavily and it wouldn't stop and I had period like cramps just more painful. With my daughter I was able to to hear her heartbeat around 8 weeks. I hope that she doesn't miscarry because its heartbreaking. They should have done a blood test to see if the hcg levels go up or down. Mine went down of course. PRAYS for her. GOOD LUCK.

You're right, they should be able to hear the heartbeat around 8 weeks. I'm plus size, so with my 1st, I had to wait until 12 weeks. Did they do an ultrasound? I think she might have already miscarried. That much blood is never a good sign. I'm now pregnant with my 2nd. My last appointment at 16 weeks, the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat because the baby was moving around too much so she did an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay. I hope your sister-in-law is okay.

I saw my son's heartbeat at 6 weeks, and at 6 weeks with my current pregnancy. Since your SIL is bleeding she may be miscarrying, but she should go back and get an internal ultrasound to confirm if the pregnancy is viable. I had three "miscarriages" after my son, and all those pregnancies were found to be not viable after I had an internal ultrasound at approximately 8 weeks. I had to have a D&C for all three because my body did not expel them naturally. A friend of mine bleed heavily in her frist trimester, and it was discovered that she was pregnant with twins. She lost one of the twins, but did deliver the other baby who is fine. Best wishes to your SIL...I know how hard it is to go through this.

probably after they get the test results the can eplain to her better about whats going on

she probably needs to be of her feet and bed resting and relaxing

i don't think she will miscarry who knows the baby might come out healthy best people to talk to would be the doctor whos treating her
