it really depends what time you leave in the a.m., anytime after 7:15am, forget it, it is horrible, I prefer to use hwy 280 or 85,as it tends to move more than the speed limit, rare if the speed limit is made-hwy 101, during the morning hours unless you are in the carpool lane..

Depends on how early in the morning...if you need to be in San Mateo between 8 and 9 then traffic will be bad. There'll be pockets of stop and go. During non-commute hours it usually takes about 30-40 min. so give yourself at least an hour. If you need to be there earlier than 8 and later than 9 then traffic will be a little lighter. You didn't say which part of San Jose you were going to be coming from...the further south or east of San Jose...the longer it's going to take.

There is horrible commute traffic on 101. Try 280 - it is always better.

ugh it is aweful. plan on at least 1-2 hours. especially thick from redwood city to san mateo

well, all I can say is that 27-30 years ago when I was driving my husband from SJ to Menlo Park, it was horrible.... I can't imagine it would be any better now!!!! Good Luck!

bad. Its almost always stop and go in most parts. You have to give yourself extra time (like an hour or two)
