Clutch should have nothing to do with getting it out of gear with it NOT running. Try moving the bike back and forth while moving the shifter. If that doesnt get it you proly have some internal mechanical failure. As far as your clutch goes I would imagine the most likely problem is a seized cluth cable.

There are two different types of plates in any wet clutch, which that Honda has, one is called the friction plate the other is a metal plate. The friction plates are usually the first to go bad, but if overheated the metal plates can get scummy and can warp. If your bro knows what he's doing, it's a fairly easy job, if not it's not! Have him at least pull the clutch assembly out and inspect it. There are no special tools needed for that task other than the basic metric tool set. Hopefully your dad was wise enough to buy a Shop Manual with the MC, if not I recommend that you are wiser and obtain one.

I had a bike set up for a couple of years....during that time my clutch froze up. It was the clutch friction plates sticking to the metal plates. I had the pull clutch and replace the friction plates.....used sand paper and flat surface to buff off the metal plates so none of the friction material was left on them.

I thought it was clutch cable froze up because I could not squeeze the grip and release clutch. Even if the clutch is not working...you can still get it out of gear by rocking the bike back and forth while pushing or pulling on gear shift lever ( engine NOT running ).

ya drain the oil and take the clutch cover off
take the clutch off and clean up the plates if they are bad get new ones on ebay for 10$
you should be able to clean them op. You cable may be frozen
you may want to ge one of theos cable oilers with use presshure to push oil thru the cable.
with the info u gave it might not even be the clutch but try that.

The clutch plates are stuck together.
From sitting , the oil turned into a sticky glue.
Drain the oil, remove the clutch cover, dis-assemble the clutch.
Piece of cake.
