Well I haven't given birth yet but my bag has been packed since 35 weeks...this is what I got.

Sample sized:
Shampoo & Conditioner
Body Wash
Toothpaste & travel toothbrush
Face Wash
Razors

From home:
2 Pairs of Pajama bottoms and tops
4 pair of underwear
6 pads
Hair brush
Comfy socks
2 Nursing bras and nursing pads
Makeup-lol-for pictures afterward
Camera and extra batteries

Note: Make sure the clothes are ones that you wouldn't mind getting stained and that the tops are easily accessed if you plan to breast feed.

For baby:
Take home outfit
Snow suit
Hat
Undershirt
Pacifier
Blankets
Baby Book
And carseat installed in car

I just plan on going home in what I wear to the hospital.
I don't think I've left anything out...lol

Good luck! And Congrats!

For you: Robe, slippers, warm socks, pjs that open in the front in case you want to get out of the hospital gown while in recovery... toiletries, makeup, hair brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, magazine, mix cd if it will soothe you during labor, small snacks in case you deliver at 2am and your hospital serves meals on a schedule...

For baby: Going home outfit with hat. Perhaps a second outfit for first pictures. Blanket for the car in case it is cold where you live.

For spouse: Change of clothes or 2, toiletries, quarters for snack machine

In general: Camera and/or camcorder. Hand/foot print set. Baby book. Phone numbers of family and friends. Cell phones and chargers.

Clothes for yourself and baby, CAMERA, toiletries, baby book(the hospital will sometimes stamp the baby's feet right onto the footprint spot). DO NOT FORGET A CAMERA!!! I forgot mine when my daughter was born, and I ended up taking her first photos with my phone. Needless to say, they didn't turn out that great. There are some websites that have a hospital bag checklist...try babycenter.com.

Good luck.

I took so much stuff and barely used any of it. Take an outfit and blanket for your baby, an outfit for you, a bag with your make-up (if you want it), toothbrush, brush, etc., and that's about it. The hospital will give you everything you need for you and your baby and your husband or family can always pick-up and bring you stuff you might realize you need later. Good luck!

Pack your things in your suitcase and the baby's things in the diaper bag. Some hospitals give you a diaper bag. Make sure and have a checklist because you will always forget something and make sure you bring a pillow for you for the ride home.

A camera, video recorder, PJs for you, sleeping sacks for the baby...the hospital will only provide a tshirt for the baby. Eventhough you plan to breatfeed, bring some pacifiers. Some people may not agree with this advice, but if your baby latches on easily and your milk comes in late, the pacificer helps soothe the baby since they naturally want to suck. My son latched on easily, but my milk didn't come in for 5 days! I always nursed, and then chased with a bottle. I know most lactation counsultants don't recommend this, but it worked for me and once my milk came in, I breastfed exclusively for 15 months.

for you:
a couple pairs of socks, some flip flops or slippers, pjs, a going home outfit, and toiletries.

For baby:
going home outfit, a blanket, pacifier (if you plan on using one)

I took Thankyou notes also, while baby was in the nursery for bath and checkups, i finished up writing my thank you notes from the baby shower. And something sweet, i was so craving chocolate after the baby came.

Socks. Your feet will likely be cold during delivery and after. And books or crossword puzzles or something to keep you occupied in case labor takes longer than you expect.
