Wanderin: That site is an Abode and it froze my computer. I had to reboot. FYI. Probably my computer.

The only one I ever saw was Judge Reinhold on the Seinfeld tv show. It was a funny episode and he played it to perfection. I would have to back away real fast from somebody like that.

Close Talker!
Warning:
You have violated a co-worker's personal
space by standing too close while talking.
Another such incident could result in you
being labeled as:
an undesirable lunch companion
a borderline stalker
that creepy person with the dog breath

Please cease and desist (and, PLEASE,
invest in some mouthwash).

Yikes! Other than backing away slowly....

Wick, when I was a kid and even into my 20's I had a great-uncle that would practically touch his nose to ours he would get so close. He ALWAYS had to give everyone a big hug.
The worse part? He had the WORSE breath I have yet to this day noticed on anyone else. He would just stand there and talk while we cringed but felt we couldn't be disrespectful,
(after all he was a senior citizen and we were young) and jump back real suddenly. UGH! We kids would warn each other; " run.....here comes Uncle Charley!!!"

I simply back up if someone is to close. If they should keep moving in, I would just put my hands up, palms facing them as if to say 'back off'. It could disturb my vision & I might even need to say so if it's going to be a long conversation. I'm 77 & it's never happened yet. Certainly no reason for me to get upset. ~~~~~~~~~~~

Wickwire, this is when you start to use a lot of words that have the letter "p" in them. Make sure you really stress the "p" and make it a wet "p". Words like "sPit" and "sPray" come to mind. Get the idea?
Or on second thought, stop bathing for a few weeks. No one will want to get that close!

Ok. Different culture, different language, We say "get into your personal space".

Thought you were talking about ; women being able to "close" a business deal.

Yes, I do know people like that, and I find myself bending backward from the waist up. I find it disturbing.

I have an acquaintance who is a close talker. Although I haven't used these (I just keep stepping back), these might help. Check it out.

I don't know any myself. You could back up and say, 'Whoa there, I like to be able to see who's talking to me.'
Or carry a yardstick and the next time they come towards you hold it out and say, 'This is my space'.

Yup...ME!!

My grandsons have been doing their best to drive me crazy in the past couple of weeks. Just today I noticed myself leaning in REAL CLOSE to my eight year old grandsons face while I told him that if he didn't stop disobeying me, I was going to make sure he was very, VERY SORRY!!

(sigh) I am usually very tolerant.

Yes I have one at work too. She leans so close you can see the hair up her nose. She gets so close you can see your reflection in her eyes. She stands so close her breast lays on your shoulder. you get the picture.
