I mean you need that skill for life. I type really fast without looking at the keyboard and it has served me well. It really is an important skill that you will need at least until the end of your school years. And if you want to do some real internet surfing, you NEED to be able to be a hardcore typist.

It depends on your job. My husband says his typing class in high school was the best class he ever had. It beat out any college class he had. I would like better typing skills because I'm a hen pecker an terribly slow.
The schools think it's important because my kids start keyboarding in 3rd grade.

Considering whether you use a computer often eough to consider it a wide improvemnt is definetly a factor.....
Personally...I can type about 50 Wrds p Min.... It helps me a lot....
It isn't difficult but a challange... all it is is having rapid repition with typing skills on a computer ( exposure to typing sequentially)

Yes. If you know how to type really well and fast then it makes you a better candidate for certain jobs.

Not only could you type research papers in a blink of an eye but...
...you could communicate with friends much faster than looking and pecking.

yes. you could get a job that pays a lot of money. but you have to be really good .if you can type a lot of words without making a mistake you are really good.

of course! you get to have your reports and what nots on your computer really fast. many jobs in the modern world also require fast typing. it's all about getting the work done fast really.

Only if your computer had a bomb strapped to it and if you typrd slower than 50 words per minute it would explode and if you looked down it would also detonate.
