Personally I think it would have been fine if it was some well known traditional French song or even a classical piece written by a famous French poet or composer. Then she could argue that it was a cultural song- and if the students were in France during November they would probably hear it playing in the department stores non stop. It is important to learn how cultures celebrate the holidays and music can be a part.

Right now I am thinking along the lines of "O Holy Night"....I think I first sang it with a choir when I was about 12....I had never heard it before that....I have loved it ever since....and I still love it now that I am 30!
