I posted a suggetion that home and garden should be broken into more parts. I know that the DIY and Maintenance parts are a pain the way they are right now. I feel they should be broken into parts ie.. electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, roofing, walls, etc.. If it were that way people could answer questions with expertise much easier. Pets are already set up this way. If you agree please go and vote!

No offense; and in Theory I agree in part; but there are some of us with multiple areas of expertise or experience, and the way DIY is set up; it allows the general public a wide forum that catches those with multiple skills, education, knowledge. Beyond that; others not so skilled may have muliple; situational; similar experiences, and can either relate; contribute; learn; teach; or share; with everyone; in a wider audience.

That said; I might not answer any heavy duty electrical or plumbing questions; but I could. I have other categories that I contribute to, and explore; albeit DIY is one I am most active in. I suspect they could do the same for other categories as well; IE: Sewing/knitting/Crochet; etc. It might make the site more tedious to navigate however?

Beyond that; it would mean more for yahoo; in the facilitation and implimentation of that web site change.

I guess what I might prefer is a better monitoring system for questions that are inane or have no relevance, similar to the way some questions are answered. EXAMPLE: at one time Questions could be "rated" and not strictly reported. Reporting isn't always neccesary, but some question rating system, along with answers, might nudge the asker into things such as more or better details; etc. That sounds persumptuous, and pretensious, and judging someones question might be offensive; given that they may just want to know; out of some valid ignorance.

In al;l I personally find Yahoo Q & A one of the better such venues/forums; online.

Your point is well taken, valid, and worth consideration. From my viewpoint DIY in a general sense allows that I can view the Gamut of questions asked in the DIY context.
