I like it. I like any foreign name.

I'm not a fan. I prefer the name Ishmael, but I wouldn't use that name because I'm not Muslim- however, if you're fine with that and really like the name, I think you should go for it.

I also think that Ismael sounds like 'Is Male', which sounds a bit... odd. But, like I said, it all comes down to whether you like it (and perhaps the pronunciation of the name).

Wouldn't name my child that.
Based solely on Ismael being the 'other' son. Not the son that G-d made His covenant with.

It would stand out for sure. It is really up to the child's parents what the child will be named. There is a strong Biblical connection to the Muslim faith through the original holder of this name, so it is up to you.

There will be many who will like it, and others that don't, but it is not our opinion that counts, it is yours.

It's the spanish version of Ishmael and means
God listens.

I am not a fan of this name but it's not a bad name and it is better then many other names out there

I don't care for it at all. It's the name of Abraham's "other" son from the Bible, the one who became father of the muslims. I guess if you're muslim it's ok. Other than that it has very negative associations (cursed by God, "bad" brother, etc)

Great, if you're Hispanic and the baby is male.
