Great question! On the whole, I think I used to just make lists rather than actually write in the form of a "letter" to Santa....and I can't actually think of anything specific I asked for....although I think I quite liked mechanical toys at one point. I loved my Speak & Spell and Speak & Math for a while, for example....I am not sure if Santa gave me those, though!
I have become far less materialistic with age, however....some years ago, I think I decided I would rather have "experiences" than "objects"....although it is very important to have a few things to unwrap on Christmas morning.

In my community the postal carriers collect the letters for Santa at the Christmas parade and every child who writes get a letter back from Santa. They are usually on a colourful page, containing no specific promises and the kids are excited get a reply. This service is free and even though the replies are generic ( usually a few versions so the replies seem more personal) the kids don't seem to mind.

It was during the great Depression of the 1930's and I asked Santa for a dog because I had no one to play with. Sure enough, I found a Labrador Puppy under the tree.

I asked for about a dozen different toys.
Easy Bake Oven,
Snow Suit
Barbie Ski Slope
Sea Monkeys

I'm thinking about writing him a letter this year!

Nope, never wrote a letter to santa. I wrote a couple to God and I asked him to return my father's life, does that count?

Nope, I never believed in Santa Claus. Plus, once the stupid stork brought my brother, I had one major grudge against all those fictional characters that are really your parents.

I don't think I did. Or I don't remember. I KNOW I used to put out milk and cookies! If I asked for anything, I KNOW it was a Schwinn Stingray bike (electric blue) and ha, I got it.
