It is absolutely no secret that Ace had a certain "affection" for drink and mind numbing substances in the times he was interviewed. In later days, Ace was able to clean up his act and get off all that. If you want to "see" just how messed up Ace was at one point, you need only listen to "Rock Soldiers" to gt it. "It was back in the summer of '83, there's a reason I remember it well. I was slippin and slidin, drinkin and drivin, it was bringin' me closer to hell!.........When I look back on how my life was spared from that near fatal wreck, if The Devil want's to play his card game....He's gonna play without an ACE in his deck!" I think that shows he was pretty intoxicated a lot. "Ack!" was just a little catch phrase he used.

While i have to start by saying that both of the answers above me are correct (after a fashion), Ace DID have a problem with both drugs and excessive drinking. But, it has to be mentioned that Paul and Gene have both been quotd as saying that "Aside from Eric (Carr), Ace had the best sense of humor in the entire band. Ace was always laughing and cracking jokes" It is here that I also insert that Ace was the kind of guy that saw humor in everything. Having been drunk myself on occasion, I can attest that when you are drunk and high, it enhances the humor in everything and you laugh alot. You also tend to stumble over your words. Ace saying "Ack!" all the time is something i compare to me stumbling over my words and just breaking out in "Um, dum boo dum dum diddy!". But, Ace is the SOLE reason i ever picked up a guitar to begin with, so I refuse to insult the man at all. He's my Hero

The giggly is due to a naturally-grown green substance
often promoted and pictorialized in High Times magazine.

The "ACK" is due to years of all that German beer he drinks?

ADDED: "Shock Me" has always been a personal fave
of his of mine. For that matter, most of "Love Gun"
has remained a pet of theirs of mine.

(Gawwd, don't let me start, I'll start writing an essay!)
