It's not easy as Japan dominates the electronics and automotive markets. Will you/ would you change your purchase to protect the whales?

My question wasn't really about whales but rather to see who's willing to sacrifice something they crave (Wii, HD tv, Camry) for something they care about.

No I would not.

The Japanese have always historically hunted whale. They put a self imposed moratorium on their whaling. Now that the estimated populations of Humpbacks are numbering in the 100,000 + range, I see no reason why 50 whales a year would hurt.

As is the case with all consumables, we must find a way to sustain a working growing population of these creatures and still satisfy our needs as humans.

If I boycotted a nation's products everytime I disagreed with its government's policies, then I would most likely not be able to buy from anywhere....including my own country, the United States. I absolutely commend everyone who is doing what they can to save the whales, though, and I donate to GreenPeace like a good little girl.

No. Americans don't seem to have a problem with killing cows, pigs, chickens, fish, and other seafood. Why the problem with the whales? Double standard, anyone?

Until there is evidence that the whales Japan is hunting are intelligent I see no reason to oppose sustainable whale hunting activities.

Not only the Japanese products, but Chinese as well.

No. I don't boycott American products to protest their air pollution, so why would I boycott Japanese products for a more minor environmental offense?
