NINONG = Godfather. Godfather as in the spiritual sense (Godfather to a child), not the MAFIA sense. Most likely it's an honorific given with much respect...UNCLE. You're fortunate to have their respect. Don't blow it by letting them know you know what it means.
Learn some Tagalog. Start with THANK YOU = salaMAT!
