I have to retell a fairytale for English and I'm not really sure which one I should do. I want everyone to already know it so they'll notice the differences, and I want it to have a pretty weak female so I can drastically change her character. Not Cinderella or the Frog Prince please, there are already too many retellings of those.

I like the idea of a retelling of Sleeping Beauty but make it an interracial couple and combine elements of old Grimms/Perault stories with new age idealism.

My favorite is Hansel and Gretel, bu I could see a modern day Rapunzel who fools the evil witch at the end by wearing a weave cutting it and killing her by letting her fall to her death!!!

Little Mermaid. I read a really old version (can't remember if it was Brothers' Grimm), it made me cry. No happy ending...boo hoo
