Do electronic pest chasers really work?

Do electronic pest chasers really work? Is one brand better than the other? How many do I need for each room? Is haveing extra chasers more helpful? I live in an very, old house. It is impossible to cover every hole. Please help!

They have been tested by several universities and magazines. They don't work. Any effect that they have is temporary.
