Or, how do you start off your Christmas season?

I've realized lately that the first holiday movie I see as Christmas approaches is often Miracle on 34th Street; indeed, I saw part of it on WNBC-TV yesterday as I was preparing to go to my cousin's house for Thanksgiving. Then this morning, Wynonna Judd sang "O Come O Come, Emmanuel" on The Today Show, and I said to my sister, "I hear that song and I feel like Advent has started." (The first Sunday of Advent this year is December 2, 2007.)

So, what kicks off Christmas, or "that Christmas feeling", for you?

As soon as Santa comes at the parade.

Then they day after Thanksgiving I usually spend the whole day decorating the house for Christmas, and at night I decorate the tree with the music playing.

On a down note, I haven't been able to do this for 2 yrs. Last year my FIL passed away the day after Thanksgiving, and of course that took presidence. This year I am moving in with my MIL so I won't be able to put up a tree until we are all packed away.

Now that I have 4 grandchildren, I do get that Christmas spirit easier. My youngest just turned 17 so the holidays weren't really there for me until now. Gonna get that tree on December 1st for sure this year, maybe even decorate outside...... Just did not got crazy and brave the stores this morning.

When I was a kid I was excited fro Christmas when it was Thanksgiving day...I knew it was super close then.

Now that I am an adult some of the magic of Christmas has left me. My mother teases me by saying I am a Grinch or Ebenezer Scrooge

Although both of parents died in December and its a bittersweet time, I think the movie The Christmas Story cheers me up. Used to watch it every year with them. And I still watch it every year with family!!
