i agree wtih candyrose

i don't have a different personality on here than in real life, but i am more open and seemingly different, because the questions asked on here are different than those people would ask in real life

to gee- a lot of people feel the need for anonymity to tell their story about their life, because they can't tell and don't have anyone to tell in real life.

I would question anyone that would change how they interact with others here as opposed to any other situation. It brings me to conclude that such a person would have issues with their true self. If it takes a degree of anonymity for someone to allow themselves freedom of expression, I feel very sorry for them.

[add] I have no problem with being who I am or saying what I think here or anywhere else. Most of the time it works well to my advantage. Just look at my Q&A if you think I'm not being honest.

[reply] I'm not saying that a person should reveal everything about themselves. I'm talking about people who alter their personalities from one venue to another for arbitrary reasons. Everyone has private issues that are better kept private, or that are more appropriate in certain situations. However, a person that 'hides' behind the anonymity of a computer screen and becomes a different person is hiding from who they truly are, in my opinion.

My personality is exactly the same. It's just the IRL, people don't know a lot of things about me because I'm not one to just volunteer up information. But if someone asks me anything, I'll more than happily answer them (and honestly). So I think it's not that I'm different online, or technically even more open. But since people online ask you more questions, and more personal ones, they get more personal answers from me and more information in general. People IRL would know these things about me that continue to surprise them upon finding out if they'd only ask! How about your online persona?

Its funny I hadn't really considered that people might portray themselves as something other than who they are.
I tend to be naive and take people at face value or (word value).but now that I think of it, I can see how anonymity might free someone to share things they couldn't in person .this could be a good thing for those who have no one they trust.
of course there will always be those who abuse anything.like teenage boys who talk filth knowing they wont be caught.or those who like to stir up crap in R&S or the people that arent smart enough to know that what they are saying is stupid.(
not to be rude)
actually Im glad theyre here ,at least they arent out there somewhere doing harm and maybe they will actually learn something from the rest.
And being a fairly smart person myself I can learn from even them. sometimes even recognizing their faults in myself.
honestly I can say that Im pretty much the same person here that I am in real time.Except perhaps Im more careful and try to choose words that come across as inoffensive while at the same time put across my point or belief.
See, on my profile I state Im a christian that in itself turns people off and sometimes makes them hostile, having a predisposed notion of what christians should be like or what they think we believe,I want them to see what my belief does in my life. by example, not giving them reason to hate me without seeing what Im about.
peace><>

My personality is still the same, but I'm probably more focused and relaxed. When I log on, it's a reprieve from the chaos of life and my attention is on one thing, but I'm still the same personality, maybe even slightly improved for it. I'm not here to impress anyone, I guess I here partly for myself too so who would I be fooling anyway?
